Trailer: Alita Battle Angel, Watch Video

The cyberpunk film is an adaptation of Yukito Kishiro’s influential Japanese manga of the same name.

Trailer of James Cameron’s Alita Battle Angel is here and boy, is it thrilling! The Titanic director who has donned the cap of a producer for the project took his time with this Fox release as he was busy with Avatar and its sequels but the sneak peek sure looks promising.

This one, unlike the first, has more backstory to Alita, an amnesiac female cyborg who is gearing to take her enemies ‘head on.’

The film is an adaptation of Yukito Kishiro’s influential Japanese manga of the same name (known in Japan as Gunnm), which follows Alita as she discovers her roots, while fighting to survive of course.

Although, it’s all in the eyes, don’t mistake her for a cartoon. She’s a CGI-enhanced character played by Rosa Salazar via motion capture. What’s more is that the trailer is action-packed as cyborgs face-off in a dystopian future.

The film also features actors with supporting roles portrayed by Ed Skrein, Jackie Earle Haley Keean Johnson and Oscar-winning legends like Christoph Waltz, Jennifer Connelly, Mahershala Ali.

It is scheduled to be released on December 21. Reportedly, it was earlier slated to premiere on July 20th, but Fox delayed its release for five months which puts it in direct competition with big winter movies like Aquaman and Bumblebee.

The nine-volume manga has been already been adapted into an original video animation and a video game. Cameron’s take, however, will be the first movie version in English and the first to use live actors.
