A transgender has written a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind asking for permission to die because Air India refused to give him a job as a cabin crew member.
In November last year, Shanvi Ponnuswamy filed a Supreme Court plea against the decision not to award the Air India job. On this, the court sent a notice to the Air India and the aviation ministry asking for an answer within four weeks.
In a letter to the President, Shanvi claimed that neither Air India nor Ministry has given any reply to the Supreme Court so far.
According to Shanvi, without a job, she fails to fulfill his financial needs, so she will be allowed to die. She said the Indian government has not responded to the question of her employment. I am not able to spend my daily food. Shanvi has also uploaded this letter on the Facebook page of Trans Right Now Collective.
They are accused that they are not being given jobs because of gender only. She has been a customer support executive of Air India for a year. She got a call letter but no job. Every time I asked the question, there was no class of Transwomen in Air India.>
