The micro blogging site Twitter is under criticism from the fairer sex most of whom are supporting actress Rose McGowan.
The women supporting the actress have called for at least 24-hour boycott of the social media platform. But why did the movement was sparked? It began when the actress utilized her Twitter account to voice against sexual assault and harassment in Hollywood after which her account was suspended.
The campaign was initiated by Kelly Ellis, a software engineer and former Google employee, who also claims to have experienced harassment on Twitter.
She had earlier written about how there was a string of harassing tweets against her and that despite her complaint, Twitter did not act on it. The campaign has gained steam with several people tweeting out in support of the online movement.>
