Two right wingers attacked, bandh call in town

Police said that Bhavesh Thakkar and Alpesh Parejiya were attacked in Jungri Vaas.

The Halvad town of the Gujarat’s Morbi district is tense.

It is because the bandh was called in after two Bajrang Dal activists were allegedly attacked by a group of people, police said.

Police said that Bhavesh Thakkar and Alpesh Parejiya were attacked in Jungri Vaas.

The location where this incident took place was over 80 kilometres from Rajkot.

Even as police was rushed to the area late Wednesday night, by then the scrap godown was set ablaze by unidentified persons.

During the “Halvad bandh” by the local Bajrang Dal unit, heaps of paper were also burnt in some places.

But the situation remains tense but under control now.

A Halvad police station official said that a case of rioting had been registered, based on the duo’s complaint.

He said that Thakkar and Parejia had been shifted to Ahmedabad for medical treatment.
