In a significant decision, the two operatives of the Students Islamic Movement of India were sentenced to life imprisonment by a NIA court.
The sentence had been in connection with the August 2010 Manappuram Gold Loan Finance Company robbery case.
The special judge (NIA cases) Girish Dixit held the two accused Abu Faisal alias Doctor (35), who is a resident of Mumbai, as well as Mohd Ikrar (43), who is resident of Khandwa (MP), guilty for the crime.
It need be mentioned that the two are already lodged in the Bhopal Central Jail.
Police sources informed that a total of eight men are accused in the case.
Four of them, namely, Zakir, Mohd Aslam, Mohd Aizazuddin and Sheikh Mujeeb Ahmad have been killed allegedly in encounters with police in the past.
Two others identified as accused in the case are Sharad Singh and Shailendra Kumar Mahato and their arrest is as yet pending.>
