Tyre burst of IndiGo aircraft; forces suspension of ops at Hyd airport

An IndiGo aircraft from Tirupati landed at the Hyderabad airport only to get its tyres burst and then get stuck on the runway.

The plane with 77 people on board had a narrow escape and the passengers were evacuated safely.

Airport sources informed that the incident did affect a couple of flights which had to be diverted to the nearby airport.

The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport authorities were forced to suspend operations
for quite some time.

In its statement, the IndiGo said that its plane 6E 7117 operated by an ATR (aircraft) from Tirupati to Hyderabad suffered a tyre burst while landing at Hyderabad Airport. The 72 passengers and one infant and four crew members are safe.
