Ukraine’s ambassador’s mobile phone stolen from near Red Fort; not recovered so far

It is not a diplomatic standoff yet. But the minor incident did find its way to newspapers in Delhi. Ukraine’s ambassador to India, Igor Polikha’s mobile phone was stolen when he was taking a selfie near the Red Fort on Wednesday. In this regard, he has written to Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the Delhi Police commissioner as well apart from filing a theft report.

Ambassador Polikha said that he was taking photos using his mobile near the Red Fort, which stands in one of the capital’s most bustling areas. It was then that a person simply snatched the device and ran away. The envoy has told the police that he was alone when the theft took place around 9:15 am. His driver was waiting by his car. Some 100 people have been questioned over the past two days. The Delhi Police says it has formed teams to investigate and will track down the thief soon. The police claim they already have clues.
