Uma Bharti not contesting parl poll, now appointed party’s nat’l VP

She is not contesting election but Union minister Uma Bharti has now been appointed BJP’s national Vice President.

It was said that Uma Bharti herself decided not to contest the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.

“Uma Bharti ji had expressed her wish to not contest election and to work for the organization. BJP President has appointed her as the national
Vice President of the party,” Union minister JP Nadda told reporters.

Uma Bharti is currently representing Jhansi in the Lok Sabha.

But the saffron clad leader will go on to campaign for the party till the Lok Sabha polls.

Union minister Sushma Swaraj had also expressed her wish to refrain from contesting the Lok Sabha elections on grounds of ill-health.
