Amid oil prices skyrocketing and more emphasis is being on electric vehicles, the Ministry of housing and urban affairs is known to have come up with a draft.
The draft, interestingly, goes ahead and proposes to amend building by-laws and make it mandatory for residential and commercial buildings and even parking lots to have electric vehicle charging station.
The draft contains guidelines for electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
It is likely that based on this draft governments shall amend their building by-laws and master plan regulations.
Since setting up these charging bays will require electricity, the proposal also includes increasing the electricity load for all buildings.
Worth mentioning here is the electric vehicle segment has received a mixed reaction from general public last year.>
