Union Minister Hardeep Puri has defended the proposed rise in Delhi Metro tariffs and said that if Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal really wants to stop the hike, his government must ensure compensating Rs 3000 crores annually. It need be mentioned that Kejriwal had recently written to Minister Puri arguing that tariff hike twice in short duration is injustice with the masses. Puri even rubbished the argument of Kejriwal that tariff hike must be at least a year apart and not more than seven percent at a time.
