With the death in custody of the father of the woman who alleged being gang-raped by MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar may not fined many takers in the Uttar Pradesh administration but the National Human Rights Commission sure has taken cognizance.
The NHRC has now directed the Uttar Pradesh government to file detailed report in the incident.
The UP police has so far only arrested Atul Singh, who is the MLA’s brother.
The NHRC has taken suo motto cognizance of the case and made the directive.
The NHRC is known to have directed the senior police officials to file report on the action taken against the delinquent police officials, who refused to register an FIR.
Earlier on Tuesday itself, the Uttar Pradesh Police set up a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to look into a girl’s accusations.
It is now alleged that the girl’s father was being forced to withdraw the case against Sengar and as he refused, the police picked him up on Sunday.
He died and apparently had 18 wounds and gashes, abdominal pain and vomiting.
Meanwhile, Sengar’s wife Sangeeta Sengar also met the DGP OP Singh in Lucknow and apparently pleaded for justice for husband.>
