BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar from Unnao of rape, said that the Sengar’s associates had their village, called Makhi, and threatened locals to not give their statements in the case.
As reported , the uncle had asked one of his relatives to file a complaint against the threats with Makhi police, since the woman and her family are living in a guest house far from the village.
According to what her uncle told the newspaper, Senger’s associates had visited the village on Saturday, 14 April, in two SUVs and threatened its people into not giving their statements against the MLA.
Rajendra Singh, the Station House Officer in Makhi, Unnao however stated that no police complaint regarding the incident had been filed.
“There is a police force deployed in the village. So, there is no chance that such an incident could happen,” he said, as reported.
This isn’t the first time that Senger’s associates have tried to stop the family and people they know from putting forth their complaints or statements. A few days ago, Senger’s brother and his associated were arrested by the police, for having reportedly barging into the woman’s house and beating up her father in order to force him to not lodge a complaint.
The woman’s father later died in police custody.
Meanwhile, on Saturday, a 52-year old woman, Shashi Singh, was arrested and sent to four days of police custody, for her alleged role in luring the woman into going to the MLA’s house on the day of the incident.
The woman’s mother, who had filed the complaint against Sengar, said that the latter had been present in the house when the MLA had allegedly raped her daughter and that the family had received death threats from them.>
