Uttar Pradesh: A joint team of Uttar Pradesh Police and the Special Task Force (STF) has rescued the eight-year-old grandson of an Uttar Pradesh guthka trader. The child was kidnapped from Uttar Pradesh’s Gonda district on Friday, and was rescued after a joint operation of the Special Task Force (STF) and the Uttar Pradesh Police in the wee hours of Saturday.
All the accused in the Gonda kidnapping case have been arrested following an encounter on Saturday morning, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi said. The police have also seized three weapons and the car used for kidnapping.
A reward of Rs 2 lakh has been declared for the joint team of the STF and police, which successfully carried out the operation, rescued the child, and arrested the kidnappers. During the investigation, the police also recovered an audio clip in which one of the kidnappers was heard demanding a ransom of Rs 4 crore, while citing the Vikas Dubey case.
Vikas Dubey, prime accused in the Kanpur ambush case in which eight police personnel were killed during a failed raid, was shot dead in an encounter on July 10 while he was being ferried from Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh to Kanpur. He was arrested a day before his encounter.
