Upper caste mobilizes against govt in poll bound Madhya Pradesh

The protesters believe that reservation should be only on economic criteria and said that they had an eye on the coming elections.

With election in sight, the resentment against the amendment in the SC/St act is also being made into an issue by the upper caste communities.

It is in this context that the Brahmin community appears to be mobilizing against Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

It is now said that as many as 51,000 Brahmins gathered in Ujjain itself at Dussehra Maidan under the banner of Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Mahasangh.

The protesters believe that reservation should be only on economic criteria and said that they had an eye on the coming elections.

The protesters also burned an effigy of CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan and raised slogans against Ujjain BJP MP Chintamani Malviya and Ujjain South MLA Mohan Yadav.

The group also demanded formation of Brahmin Welfare Board, Sawarn Welfare Board and a university meant only for upper castes in every state.
