Upset farmer consumes insecticide at Collector’s office; heres why he did it
In an incident that yet again exposes the dire situation of the farmers in country, a farmer in Telangana ended his life by drinking insecticide at the Collector’s office at Jagtial town.
The deceased has been identified as Gangaiah (36), a resident of Rechapalli in Sarangapur mandal.
Administrative sources informed that Gangaiah had bought 1.2 acres of land through a simple sale deed about 15 years ago and was cultivating it since.
But when he sought to regularize his title, the seller of the land allegedly objected.
An upset Gangaiah came to the Collector’s office and without making any representation took to drinking insecticide, it was informed by the official.
Soon after, the District Collector Dr A Sharath asked the staff to rush him to hospital.
Gangaiah was shifted to the Government Hospital at Karimnagar where he died during treatment a few hours later, the official added. An inquiry is being conducted.
