EGG : When it comes to tackling hair and skin problems, there’s nothing that a good natural oil cannot do. And now the ever-growing list of natural oils, which include coconut oil, olive oil, almond oil, lavendar oil – has a new addition – the egg oil!
It is something that can apply on an every day basis and be rest assured that your mane and skin is taken care of. Here’s what you should about the oil to get maximum benefit out of it.
Also known as egg yolk oil, this oil is extracted from the egg yolks which are rich in triglycerides with cholesterol and phospholipids. Several studies have shown that cholesterol is essential for your skin and hair. It absorbs easily into the skin and your hair scalp. It also aids in healing dry and damaged skin. Apart from this, egg oil is also rich in essential fatty acids like Omega 3 and Omega 6 which help in maintaining the normal growth of cells.
Reduces premature hair loss: “Being rich in sources of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids, it contains EFA which is a very vital ingredient in the role of hair care. EFA’s affect the blood circulation and cell growth, which help in regenerating the hair follicles. Their anti-inflammatory properties help in preventing poor scalp conditions which causes dandruff and hair loss,” says tricologist Dr Neha Mitra.
Conditions your hair: Since egg oil contains cholesterol, it helps the oil absorb into the epidermis. It also stabilises and maintains the complex intercellular-skin matrix, allowing the skin to undergo natural repair and rejuvenation. The cholesterol in eggs is an active emollient and helps to moisturise the dry hair strands. It helps heal and strengthen the hair shaft by reducing frizz and lending shine and smoothness to your hair.
Keeps your hair healthy and younger: Adds Dr Mitra, “The antioxidants (Lutien and Zeaxanthin) which are present in the egg oil and gives a rich yellow colour to the egg yolk, helps fight the free radical chain reactions that damage your skin and hair. They help increase the hydration in your scalp and hair, thus preventing ageing of your locks. They also increase the supply of oxygen in your scalp and helps strengthen your hair roots, resulting in stronger and darker hair.”
