After the ten percent quota got cleared from both houses of Parliament, one of the big states of Uttar Pradesh went ahead and implemented the 10 per cent reservation.
The reservation is meant for the economically-weaker sections in the General category.
Gujarat was the first state in the country to approve the 10 per cent reservation.
The other states which have also implemented the quota system includes Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand and other four states.
Parliament passed a Constitutional amendment in this regard earlier this month and President Ram Nath Kovind approved it on January 12.
