Amid the Cauvery protests intensifying, the MDMK founder Vaiko’s close relative set himself on fire.

This would further put pressure on other parties to up the ante on the central government over the formation of Cauvery Management Board.

Meanwhile, Vaiko’s relative has been admitted to a hospital where his condition was said to be very critical.

The man is said to have sustained 90 per cent burns.

After the incidence, the MDMK leader Vaiko has appealed to people not to harm themselves and protest in a peaceful way.

It is said that the man identified as 50 yr old Suresh left his home in Virudhunagar for his morning walk.

As he reached an open ground, he reportedly doused himself with kerosene and set himself on fire, as per reports.

It is then that the passersby rushed him to the Virudhunagar government hospital with 80 per cent burns. He was later shifted to Madurai’s Apollo Hospital.
