Varsity Vice Chancellor makes remark on a queen, apologises

comment was made at a seminar on Balmiki Jayanti but the members have insisted that he be sacked

The Akhil Bhartiya Kshatriya Mahasabha members are agitating over what they allege to be an adverse remark on Rajput queen Jodha Bai.

The outfit have been holding a series of protests on this issue and have also demanded the dismissal of Agra university vice chancellor, who is alleged to have made the remark.

This is even as the Vice Chancellor of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar University Arvind Dixit has tendered his apologies.

The comment was made at a seminar on Balmiki Jayanti but the members have insisted that he be sacked.

On Thursday, the Mahasabha members burned his effigy and protested.

The protest continued on Friday.

Dixit reportedly said Jodha Bai was married off to Mughal emperor Akbar to secure power.

In a written statement to the media, Dixit said his statement was misunderstood and taken out of context.

Their protest turned violent on Thursday, when they indulged in stone-pelting.

During the protest, a dozen people, including the chief proctor and the registrar of the university were injured.
