Vasudev Parab not guilty, claims Goa unit of BJP

DRI raid unearthed a ketamine manufacturing racket

‘We have full faith in Vasudev Parab, holder of a government-allotted industrial plot, that he is not involved in a ketamine manufacturing racket, or in its trade.’ A Goa state BJP statement read that was issued after Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) raid unearthed a ketamine manufacturing racket recently in the coastal state of Goa.

BJP strongman and an office bearer of BJP’s North Goa district unit, has been accused of being a part of the racket. However, state BJP President Vinay Tendulkar stood firmly by his side, claiming that Vasudev Parab did not have even 0.1 percent involvement in the racket.

Before that, Manohar Parrikar had ruled out a state government probe into the ketamine or date-rape drug manufacturing racket, which DRI has claimed as one of the biggest ever raids on drug manufacturing operations, which the enforcement agency has ever undertaken.

The Congress has urged Parrikar to launch an independent probe into the case, while also accusing the BJP of trying to shield manufacturers of the date-rape drug.

However, Tendulkar’s statement seemed to be a little bit curious, since he had claimed that Parab had no links with the state BJP unit.

Suddenly he jumed over to stand by his side, saying that Vasudev Parab’s only violation was that he had rented the industrial plot allotted to him by the Goa Industrial Development Corporation to a third-party, which is against the rule.

The Corporation has already issued a show cause notice to Vasudev Parab on this violation of the rule.
