Vehicles engaged in laying double track burned by naxals

As Chhattisgarh heads into election year, the red rebels resorted to violence on Friday night.

The naxals, as they are known in state, took to burning of several vehicles parked outside Kamalur railway station.

Four hyvas, three excavators and one each grader and roller were given to flames. The violence took place within Bhansi police station limits.

It is being speculated that these vehicles were targeted because they were engaged in laying of double track on this route.

That the incident was reported to Dantwada administration around seven thirty evening is clear indication that they struck blatantly just after dark set in in the area.

The local sources also informed that less than two dozen naxals had come to attack and they first took the station master and some other staffers from their duty point. It was then that they resorted to violence.

Meanwhile, Kirandul-Vishakapatnam passenger train has been halted at Dantewada as precautionary measure.
