Vote of Cong’s Anila Bhedia cancelled; on plaint of BJP

He said that even he had seen the vote of the legislator

Even as Congress had been hopeful in the Rajya Sabha election in Chhattisgarh and thus fielded Lekhram Sahu as its candidate, it suffered a setback on the voting day as the Election Commission rejected the vote of one of the Congress MLA Anila Bhedia.

The vote was rejected after BJP leader and legislator Shivratan Sharma complained that she had made public her vote.

He said that under the rules, the vote can only be revealed to polling agent of one’s own party but Anila Bhedia’s vote was made public.

He said that even he had seen the vote of the legislator.

While the Election Commission pondered over the objection, it later cancelled the vote of legislator which led to setback for Congress.

However, the lady legislator herself denied that her vote had been made public and asserted that she had cast vote as per rules.
