Each year more than 100 Bollywood films hit the screens, but only one or two of them make it to the coveted Rs 300-crore club. And in 2019, Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s War has achieved that feat. In 19 days of its release, the biggest hit of 2019 crossed the Rs 300-crore mark.
According to early estimates, War made Rs 2.5 crore (approx) on Monday, thus taking the 20-day collection to Rs 304.25 crore (approx).
This is YRF’s third film after Sultan (2016) and Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) to make it to the Rs 300-crore club. What began with Aamir Khan’s PK in 2014 has now turned into a yearly ritual with at least one film each year crossing the Rs 300-crore mark.
If 2015 added Bajrangi Bhaijaan to the list, 2016 saw big-budget films like Sultan and Dangal making it to the coveted club. A year later, Tiger Zinda Hai joined the club. And 2018 was no different when Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone’s Padmaavat and Ranbir Kapoor’s Sanju made their way to the club.
300-crore club films
And now War has added to the long list of Rs 300-crore club films. This is Tiger Shroff and Hrithik Roshan’s biggest hit so far.
Made on a budget of Rs 150 crore, War has managed to attract audience with its high-octane action stunts, stunning locales and camaraderie between Hrithik and Tiger. Such has been the response that Siddharth Anand is set to make a sequel to the film. War will be a franchise with Hrithik Roshan remaining the constant in the star cast.
The numbers at the box office has left the makers excited about the sequel. With still a few days left for Akshay Kumar’s Housefull 4 to hit the screens, War is ready to encash as much as possible before that.
