Raipur: Interests of Chhattisgarh and its people are the top priority of Chhattisgarh Government, said Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel at a meeting held at his residential office here today to review rail projects and passenger amenities in Chhattisgarh.
Baghel said that underconstruction rail corridors and new rail lines that were approved during the tenure of previous government in the state for coal transportation must be reviewed. To this end he told the concerned officers to assess benefit to state and loss caused to environment by these projects and submit the report within 15 days.
He sought information from the officials about benefits to Chhattisgarh and its people from such rail projects. Will people get transportation facility and how many people will get employment? Baghel asked. According to him coal mines are surrounded by dense forests and that development of coal block will have adverse impact on forests. Mines and rail lines would also cause displacement of people besides causing harm to environment, he apprehended and said that amount of royalty too would be very less.
