In Bollywood is never going to end. I mean, it’s not like we don’t approve of the all time favourites like Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif or say, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt, but just how refreshing is it to see two new actors coming together for the first time and proving they can be equally compatible on screen! 2018 thankfully started off on this very beautiful note by offering not one, but five new jodis in the very first quarter of the year.
Starting with Shahid Kapoor-Deepika Padukone in Padmaavat to the latest being Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani in Baaghi 2, we indeed got to see quite a few casting coups. So without wasting a minute, pick your favourite jodi from the first quarter of 2018 by scrolling down, one couple at a time.
Shahid Kapoor and Deepika Padukone:
Deepika had once mentioned, “Padmaavat wouldn’t have been the same without Shahid.” Although initially we had apprehensions about Shahid and Deepika’s chemistry, considering the film also stars a powerhouse like Ranveer Singh who has time and again been declared as the best match for Deepika.
LBut much to our surprise, DP and Shahid looked immensely magical as husband and wife in the film.
Their romance looked so much at ease; they complimented each other so well. We don’t know about you but for us, Shahid and Deepika certainly worked wonders together and can be a great bet for filmmakers in the future.
Akshay Kumar and Radhika Apte:
They say beauty lies in simplicity… well, Akshay-Radhika resonated with it by coming together for a socially relevant film like PadMan.
Their pairing was not about oozing romance or how sensuously they can connect and paint a perfect love story. Radhika in fact doesn’t even stand by Akshay’s opinions in the film.
Yet, the way they adjusted to each other’s imperfections to only come on mutual grounds in the end is what made us fall in love with this unconventional pair.
Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet:
You might have not liked Aiyaary as a film but let’s admit it, Sidharth Malhotra and Rakul Preet’s pairing looks pretty cute that way.
There’s something about them that sets them apart from the rest. Or you never know, may be we are saying this because of Sid’s charming personality which makes any woman look good opposite him. Your take?
Anushka Sharma and Parambrata Chatterjee:
Being romantic in a horror film is definitely NOT a cakewalk. So that way, Anushka and Parambrata have already won this pairing poll.
Their chemistry was bang on and the way they held onto the emotion despite Anushka’s horrifying transformation was commendable.
Like how our editor said it in his review, “Parambrata Chatterjee is the perfect cast as the man trapped in a situation that has no logical reasoning. His initial scenes with Anushka are brilliant and their timing is superb.”
Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani:
When real love story translates onto reel life, it gotta be alluring! Tiger Shroff and Disha Patani might not admit to their relationship status but their chemistry is out here for the world to see with Baaghi 2.
It’s like they don’t even have to do anything to draw your attention – they just come together, look into each other’s eyes and there, you are left impressed. We are sure Tiger-Disha must be already getting more romantic film offers after Baaghi 2.
And on that note, we can’t wait to watch out for more new couples in the next half of the year. Let’s see who ends up being your most favourite by the end of 2018.>
