Keen to pressure India to reduce Iranian oil supply to India, the United States said that it is going an extra length to make sure that this happens.
The White House said on Thursday as it reiterated its warning to all purchaser of Iranian oil to bring it down to zero by November 4 or face imminent sanctions from the United States.
It was the National Security Advisor John Bolton who said that administration officials have had conversations with senior Indian officials.
He said this at a White House news conference.
This comes as Bolton had only last month met his Indian counterpart Ajit K Doval in Washington.
That meeting was a follow up to two-plus-two dialogue in New Delhi.
And the frequency and the ease of getting waivers and exemptions is not going to be our policy, he warned.>
