Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has reiterated that he will be compelled to impose lockdown in some parts of the state if the careless and casual approach of the people continues towards prevention of Covid19.
He was speaking to reporters in Mumbai after taking the first dose of the Covid preventive Vaccine in JJ Hospital in Mumbai.
Meanwhile, steep rise in Covid19 cases is witnessed for the past few days and local partial lockdowns have been imposed in some parts of the state but the situation has become serious due to the negligence of the citizens.
Lockdown had to be announced in Nagpur city today, due to continuous rise in Covid19 cases in the city. Guardian Minister of Nagpur Nitin Raut made the announcement of lockdown in a press conference today while pointing out towards the casual approach of the people in Nagpur.
He said that on March 11 last year the first Covid patient was found in Nagpur and since then one lakh 62 thousand people were found positive and one lakh 45 thousand were recovered.
He said that there were signs of improvement in November last year but for the past few days the situation is becoming worrisome due to the steep rise in the cases in the city.
He informed that a record number of one thousand 710 patients were found yesterday in a single day and this has increased the worries of the administration.
While expressing his displeasure about the behaviour of the people he said that people didn’t respond to the partial lockdown which was imposed in the weekend and even the positive patients were seen roaming freely in the city.
Therefore the administration has decided to impose the one week long lockdown and the decision will be taken to extend it after reviewing the situation.
