With Maldivian crisis ongoing; Indian Ambassador reportedly met Foreign Secy
Even as Maldivian democracy is in crisis with a state of emergency imposed, it is now said that a meeting has taken place between Indian Ambassador and Foreign Secretary of the island nation.
It need be mentioned that India had toughened its stance with the current regime of the island nation and not given time to its envoy as well.
It is now learnt that the official meeting between the two dignitaries solely focused on “position and concerns” of both the countries.
Ambassador Akhilesh Mishra and Foreign Secretary Ahmed Sareer have reiterated commitment to strengthen relations between the Maldives and India.
The Indian Ambassador was conveyed that all of high profile arrested ones are in good health.
The Maldivian government has arrested former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom apart from chief justice Abdulla Saeed and another judge Ali Hameed.
Indian officials have alleged that Maldives has not paid any heed to its concerns and did not take any “real action”.
So far, even the international community has expressed concerns while asking the Yameen government to restore the constitutionally guaranteed rights of the people and institutions. >
