It is also being said that the National Conference will not stake claim for a berth in cabinet if government if formed

Is it yet another anti-BJP front that is being formed in Jammu and Kashmir?

People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti and the Congress have confirmed to form the government in Jammu & Kashmir with outside help from National Conference.

It is also being said that the National Conference will not stake claim for a berth in cabinet if government if formed.

The PDP with 28 legislators in the 87-member Jammu and Kashmir assembly, Congress with 12 and the National Conference with 15 makes it possible for the grand alliance to stake a claim over the government formation.

It need be mentioned that 44 is the required number of legislators needed to form the government in the state.

The state is currently under governor’s rule which cannot be extended after it completes its six-month period on December 19.

The President’s rule can be imposed but the 87-member assembly has not been dissolved by Governor Satyapal Mallik.

The National Conference has indicated that they are not interested in joining a coalition government but are ready to give outside support to a PDP-Congress coalition.
