With petrol, diesel prices going up; heres what central govt plans on doing
Despite elections in states this year and national election in the next year, the petrol and diesel prices along with the international crude prices are on an upswing.
A liter of petrol in Mumbai costs Rs 80.10 today it costs Rs 67.10 for diesel.
It need be mentioned that the central government is already considering bringing fuel under the ambit of the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Dharmendra Pradhan yesterday said that the government is hopeful that GST council will agree to inclusion of petrol, diesel and kerosene under the ambit of GST.
It is believed that once under the ambit of GST, the prices of petrol and diesel are likely to stabilize and may remain within the Rs 50-mark.>
