The holy city of Ayodhya is once again center of national polity as the Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray landed in the city along with son and wife.
The Thackeray family offered prayers at the with his wife Rashmi and son Aditya at the famed Lakshman Kila in the Uttar Pradesh town where big religious events are lined up on Sunday as well.
Thackeray is also to offer prayers on the banks of the Sarayu river later in the evening.
It need be mentioned that close to 3,000 Shiv Sena supporters came to Ayodhya in two trains from Maharashtra.
The local administration has tightened the security in a city that is now contention due to the Ram Mandir and Babri Masjid.
This is Uddhav Thackeray’s first visit to Ayodhya. Shiv Sena leaders Sanjay Raut, Eknath Shinde and Rajan Vichare, and Mumbai mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar have been camping in Ayodhya for the last few days to prep Mr Thackeray’s programmes.
It is also to be said that the VHP will hold a separate event on Sunday in which it is expected that massive congregation of saints and supporters of the Ram temple will be witnessed.
To ensure security, forty-two companies of the Provincial Armed Constabulary, five companies of the Rapid Action Force and several anti-terrorism squad commandos have also deployed. They are being supported by drones.
Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has asked the Supreme Court to send the army, if necessary, to keep the situation under control. >
