A woman in her twenties gave birth to a child in railway station.
The incident is of Bhusawal railway station within the Jalgaon district of Maharashtra.
Railway officials said that the woman has been identified as Kanchandevi.
They said that she was travelling from Mumbai to Lucknow in Pushpak Express but then began experiencing severe labour pains as soon as the train arrived at Bhusawal station in the evening.
It was when others watched her in pain that the nearby women passengers rushed to her rescue.
While she was taken out of the train compartment, the passengers approached a ticket checker to call out for a doctor.
The woman delivered the baby as she was being taken to a lift.
Both the woman and her child have been termed as safe for now and have been admitted to a local government hospital, it was informed.>
