A 30-yr-old woman travelling to Gorakhpur with her husband suddenly began having labour pains in Jan Nayak Express.
The situation forced the women to then go for makeshift maternity ward for the delivery of baby.
The incident is said to be of Monday night.
The woman has been identified as Suman Devi.
It is said that the situation worsened as train pulled into Sitapur.
This is when her husband Hari Om approached Station Officer – Government Railway Police (GRP) Sitapur.
The officer promptly attended to the situation with the help of a doctor and a woman constable.
The official wasted no time in arranging for the delivery inside the bogey with the help of a few women passengers.
Suman gave birth to a boy, and in the meantime, an ambulance was arranged to take her and the child to the district hospital in Sitapur.
The train was delayed for about an hour, the official said, adding the mother and son were doing fine.
It was around six months back that a woman gave birth in a Mumbai local.
