Woman dragged out of car and raped in Gurgaon

A 22-year-old woman dragged out of the car and raped in Gurgaon on Monday. The Gurgaon police on Monday arrested four men for allegedly assaulting a family in Tigra village.

The accused, identified as Deshveer, Dharmender, Pawan and Sanjeet, were arrested from Johalka village in Sohna on Monday. Police have also recovered the vehicle allegedly used to commit the crime from the accused.

A case has been registered at the Sector 56 police station under sections 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 376 (rape), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.

According to the complainant, the incident took place when the victim and her family were returning home from Tigra village after visiting one of their relatives.

The victim’s family had a tiff with the accused over parking near the Sohna Road late on Sunday night, after which both the parties started abusing each other and the situation spiraled out of control. While the accused beat her family, the victim was dragged to a forest area, where she was allegedly raped.

“All four accused will be produced in the court on Tuesday,” said Ravinder Kumar, PRO, Gurgaon police.

Gurgaon police swung into action soon after the complainant’s medical examination confirmed that she had been raped. The incident comes close on the heels of the state police relaunching Operation Durga to check rising crime against women.
