Woman referred to another hospital; gives birth in ambulance

referral was in wake of unavailability of ultrasound machine

After a woman gave birth to a boy in an ambulance, three doctors of Gurgaon civil hospital were suspended.

It is said that the doctors at the civil hospital in Gurgaon referred the about the deliver woman to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital.

This referral was in wake of unavailability of ultrasound machine, it is said.

The health department soon swung into action and suspended three doctors on charges of negligence.

According to the woman’s husband, a senior woman doctor said that there was still time in delivery and that they did not have an ultrasound machine at the civil hospital.

The doctors eventually referred the woman to the Safdarjung Hospital even though she was in labour, the woman’s husband said.

The woman however gave birth to a boy in an ambulance near Sirhaul toll plaza on the Delhi-Gurgaon national highway.
