Woman serves insecticide laced food to family, five killed

A housewife is alleged to have served insecticide laced food to the family and relatives resulting in death of five while another 120 guests falling sick.

The motive is all the more shocking as the woman is said to have told the police that she was continually being taunted for her skin complexion and also her cooking skills.

The incident is of Raigad in Maharashtra, where the accused woman has been identified as Pragya Survase.

Police informed that the 28-year-old allegedly poisoned food at her relative’s house-warming party.

The five people who died included four children as well.

Police said that the party was that at the residence of relative Subhash Mane in Mahad village.

The relatives and family people began complaining of various medical symptoms after the dinner with some even beginning to vomit incessantly.

Thus they were then rushed to different hospitals one after the other.

The police was tipped off about the mishap after which the food sample was sent for analysis which confirmed the presence of insecticide.

After the interrogation began, Pragya Survase stood out among others for her varying statements.

She was arrested and a case of murder, attempt to murder and other offences was filed against her.
