Women’s entry into Sabrimala temple; Supreme Court refers case to constitutional bench

The Supreme Court has referred the matter of women’s entry to Sabrimala temple of Kerala to constitutional bench.

It need be mentioned that Kerala government had opined that women of all ages need to be provided entry to the Sabrimala temple.

The petition in the Sabrimala temple case argues that women not being allowed in the temple is a sign of discrimination with them.

The ruling deity of the temple Ayyappa is considered a celibate and in meditative state.
