State Finance Commission Chairman Mr. Chandrashekar Sahu inaugurated a one-day workshop on Bastar Division on enhancing capacities of the District Planning Samities members at the village Nimora-based Thakur Pyarelal Singh Panchayat and Rural Development Institute yesterday.
Mr. Sahu said that the members should formulate the policies and programmes as per the needs and aspirations of the targeted groups and in particular citizens living near the forests.
Efforts should be made to see that the benefits of various socio-economic policies and programmes of the State Government reach maximum number of beneficiaries in the State.
Mr. Sahu stressed upon the need to spread awareness regarding organic farming to eradicate poverty in the hinterland. Former Additional Chief Secretary Mr. D. S. Misra also addressed the members of the workshop.
Mr. Misra said that the posts of the members of the District Yojana Samities are also Constitutional posts. They also should work for the welfare of the common people.
It may be mentioned here that the State Planning Commission is holding the workshop to strengthen the 27 District Planning Samities in all the Revenue Divisions.
Similar workshops will be held at Surguja on 25th June, Bilaspur 27th June, Durg 29 June and Raipur Division 2nd July.
