In West Bengal, angry scenes were witnessed at a government primary school in Murshidabad district.
This after worms were found in the mid-day meal that was being served to the students.
The case pertains to Hasimpur Primary School in Murshidabad district.
It need be mentioned that the parents cornered the school authorities and demanded an explanation as to why worms were found in the khichadi that was provided in the mid-day meal.
It is also alleged that as per local media outlets that when pointed out that there were worms in the meal, the teacher brushed it aside saying they were cumin seeds (jeera).
The parents and locals have threatened that they will intensify their protest if the authorities fail to act against the guilty.
They have alleged that the quality of food has been deteriorating for the past one year and authorities have failed to check it despite repeated reminders.
The school principal could not be reached for comments. The school has however not denied that worms were found in the meal.>
