After a controversial fatwa on Nida Khan, yet another fatwa is in news and might invite all kinds of criticisms.

In the latest of that series, the Deoband-based Islamic seminary Darul Uloom has said that waxing and shaving are prohibited as per Sharia law.

It need be mentioned that the earlier fatwa had stirred up massive controversy as the woman Nida Khan was speaking against practices like triple talaq and halala.

It remains to be seen how the Muslim community and more specifically wider civil society reacts to declaration of shaving and waxing as prohibited.

fatwa department of the seminary said barring armpits, mustache and lower part of navel, removing hair from any other body part is not advisable or is against culture.

Last week, Darul Uloom had said that application of mehndi by an unknown man is not acceptable under Sharia.
